Can we hear you pumping on our stereo?

March 22nd, 2008

A big hey to everyone out there from the Youth Participation group.

After an absence we are back in action and one thing were really excited about is Breakout Radio. Breakout will have a radio station going out over the course of weekend and it will be a chance for you.. yes you, to share your views on the church and the world at large.

To that end, as well as wanting people to present over the weekend,  we are looking for anyone who might be interested in helping us produce content to go out over the weekend. There will be a training weekend for people who are wanting to take part in June and places are limited so register your interest ASAP to participation@breakout2008.info

Hope your all doing well and we look forward to seeing you all in July!

Wow! people read this!

March 8th, 2008

I thought i’d better write another Blog! I’m away with a group of young people from my church this weekend and am writing to you from a chilly church kitchen at 11.15pm waiting for bed - if only everyone was as tired as me!! (I must be getting old)

We were joined this evening by other wonderful people from North Norfolk and they commented that they read the blog. I’m in SHOCK so had to respond immediately !

Anyway, back to Breakout - I am getting even more excited than I was in my last blog now, the tension is building and we are getting closer by the second. I will be back soon with more up to date info.

Good night. Michael.

Interactivity Update Jan08

January 27th, 2008

I’m really starting to get excited about Breakout now - the opportunity to have some many young people together will be great.

On the interactivity team we have been finalising sports and workshops. I thought it would be good to give you a sneak preview before we release full details online of the sports that we will have available. At the moment we are 80% sure we will have Archery, an Inflatable Football Pitch, Grass Boarding (Sounds far too dangerous for me !) and Gravity Boost, a sort of bungee trampoline type thing!

As wel as sports there will be a wide range of workshops to try out (and don’t just think that a workshop means sitting in a classroom and listening - far from it !

Entertainments update

January 17th, 2008

Greetings

Trust this finds you well and having had the sort of Christmas and New Year you had hoped for. For the first time in years we went away for Christmas rather than having family to stay with us, my 2 year old son has certainley worked out the best way to open presents even those that aren’t his!

Anyway to business, by now, you shuld have read that Yfriday have confirmed they will be headlining Breakout 2008. If you haven’t already done so, have a look at the article in the entertainments area of the website. Hopefully we will be recording an interview with them prior to the event which will be available to download and listen to. Yfriday’s website is www.yfriday.co.uk where you can preorder their latest DVD and find out more about the band.

Don’t forget to send your radio show demo to Church House. Doing this, could give you the opportunity to present your own radio show which will be broadcast to the site and the surrounding areas (Sheffield & Chesterfield) This is a fantastic oportunity for anybody wanting a career in media.
If you want to volunteer to be an engineer, rather than a presenter then send me a mail.
For more information about the radio station and how you can be invovled, please look at the radio station section of the website.

Best wishes.

Mark

Text Messaging

December 5th, 2007

Everyone uses mobile phones these days, to keep in touch with their friends, for work, and increasingly to donate to charity, vote in opinion polls and surf the net. And, of course, everyone wants to do things to make their mobile their own! Watch this space for news of how you can download wallpapers, videos and exclusive media straight to your phone for free :)

We’ve also just launched the Breakout 2008 text info service - just text BREAKOUT INFO START to 60300 (doesn’t matter if it’s all in caps or not), and we’ll keep you updated on new signings, programme information and the latest news. It’s free, and we promise not to send you more than one text a week! You can also text any questions you have about the event - just send the word BREAKOUT followed by your message to 60300.

At the event itself, we’ll no doubt have tons of mobile treats in store….but that would be telling…..any suggestions, of course, would be gratefully received - click the email link above :)

Back from Youth Conference

November 18th, 2007

Hi all! Just got back from Youth Conference. Was a long drive (6 hours!) but worth it. We had a great discussion about what we are planning and we got a lot of information from it. The main point was the need for better communication about Breakout to let as many people know whats happening. Some people had not even heard of Breakout before the weekend so its very important that we spread the word about what a great event this is, starting……………………………. NOW!

The main thing I want to tell you though is about the radio station we are having at Breakout. You, yes YOU! will be able to produce and pre-record your own ’show’ to be played on the radio over the weekend. This is a fantastic opportunity, not only to tell people about your believes, your ideas on life, or whatever you have on your mind, but also to learn about what goes in to producing a show and running a radio station. If you are interested send us an email and well let you know whats going on. There will be a weekend before Breakout to learn the ropes and then it will be up to you to get your show together for the big weekend!

I hope everyone is enjoying life and hopefully I will speak to you soon.

Logistics Update

October 10th, 2007

Hi Guys

Just to provide you all with a logistics update so far.  As you already know that Dave & Allith Rutt have decided not to be part of Breakout 08 now, which leaves us with the vancancy for site manager.  If you know of anybody who maybe interested, let myself or Rob Haworth know.  In relation to stewarding, I have now appointed two stewarding co-ordinators, Andy Coley & Sarah Brown and we will be having our first meeting this Saturday, 13th October to get things rolling on this side!

Well that’s it for now.  I will provide our next update at the next MTM in November!
