Youth Participation Strategy

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Just a quick note to say that we’ve heard that the Youth Participation Strategy has been passed by the Methodist Conference - you’ll be able to find out more about this and the future of youth work / under 19s in the Methodist Church at Breakout.

Photo of Day 2

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Today has been a day for putting up the tents, so the main big top is now in the air (although they’ll put the walls on it tomorrow) and all of the other tents have gone up.

Tomorrow will be a day for stages and the first of the technical equipment will be going in.  The rain has kept off for the majority of today so fingers crossed it will stay dry tomorrow until all of the marquees are up.

So we’re here (well I am!)

Monday, July 7th, 2008

So the count down to Breakout 2008 has officially started - with just a few days to go we’ve started arriving at site to start getting things into place.  Well OK - actually I’m here on my own - as one of the event managers for the event I’m here early to make sure all of the marquees, big tops and technical people get here and put everything in the right place.  Over the next few days I’ll be joined by more and more volunteers until everyone starts to arrive on Friday!

Breakout 2008 - Build Day 1

Now the bad news is that it isn’t totally dry here - I took this photo a couple of hours ago when it was raining quite hard, but it has dried out a little now.  This space is where (starting tomorrow) the main venue will be built.  After that we’ll get underway with some of the tents, the other big top (yes, there are two!).

I’ll try and post some more pictures tomorrow.

Thanks, Rob

We are proud to introduce the Radio Breakout presenters!  They are (in no particular order!)

Andrew & Martin

Andrew: Alright people! I’m Andrew… ‘Mason’ to my mates! I’m Geordie born and bred, or at least until I Carlisle where my dad’s a Minister. I’m going to be working on the radio, if you want to find me, i’ll probably be the one one with the funny wig!

Martin: I come from Bradford (near Leeds) in West Yorkshire. I’m just going into my final year of A Levels, studying maths, biology and IT (and dropping business & economics from AS Levels). I’m good with technology, enjoy photography and one day hope to run my own business. My kind of TV programs are Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Apprentice and Derren Brown. My music library includes Linkin Park, One Republic, Scouting for Girls and Foo Fighters.

Simon & Bx

Simon: Hi I’m Si, 18 from Lincoln, and am in that period of limbo between school and University. I have a strange love of politics, history and the English language, and a knack for remembering facts that are not at all relevent to anything.

Bx: Hay guys, I’m Bx, and I’m from Norfolk, Really excited about Breakout - its my first year at this event not only that because of Breakout I had my first experince on a train and learnt how to play pool. Watch out and listen around it’s hard to miss me I’m usually extremely hyper and like to do the can-can.

Viva & Fi

Viva and Fi are something of a mystery, no-one really knows who they are or what they do.  To find out more about them, you’ll have to listen to Radio Breakout on 87.7FM
